Descriptions of Candidates:

Karina Nilsen

As most of you know by now, I’m a 23 years old norwegian girl in my first year of Ind.ecol Msc. My background is political science from NTNU and in addition to schoolwork I have been so lucky to work with the Student newspaper Under Dusken, and the student festival ISFiT.

As External Outreach for Symbiosis, an important goal for me would be to expand the network of Symbiosis with the existing student- and career-networks in Trondheim. Getting Indecolers and our skills on the agenda for organizations such as Bindeleddet, AIESEC and BEST can be a good start for Indecolers to get into the job-market in Norway and internationally. Other ideas is to keep workshops where the students can create ”elevator pitches” for Indecol and their skills, call companies and headhunters to promote the hiring of wonderful Indecolers as well as invite an even broader range of companies to the career-fair Miljødagen.

Last but not least I am very social and I love to talk to people. If I’m elected External Outreach, my promise is to talk to everyone I meet about Indecol and the incredibly talented, beautiful and intelligent students in Symbiosis!

Jørgen Westrum Thorsen

My name is Jørgen Westrum Thorsen and I am a 24year old Norwegian. I`m from the small town of Åsgårdstrand, one hours drive south of Oslo.

I began my bachelor in Economics at NTNU in the fall of 2007. During that time I have been quite involved in the voluntary student scene here in Trondheim, notably at Samfundet and ISFiT(The International Student Festival in Trondheim). From 2008 – 2009 I was a functionary in the ISFiT 2009 Dialogue groups, helping to plan and execute a seminar for 24 students from Israel and Palestine, Cyprus, and Georgia/Abkhazia.

In September 2009 I was recruited as the vice president for ISFiT 2011, but took over as acting president in August 2010 and as president in September 2010.

ISFiT is the worlds largest International Student festival. It has budget of 6.4million KR and is made possible by 430 Trondheim Students. I learned more from these 2 years in ISFiT than all my years at NTNU combined.

I see Symbiosis as an organisation trying to do two things: First as a social platform for the indecol students, and second as a link to businesses. As chairman of Symbiosis I would like to continue to tradition of fun and togetherness that the former boards has made possible by having cabin trips, parties, and other social happenings. I would also like to get the word of Symbiosis more out there to the Norwegian students and sustainable business´.
